Abstract
The chapter introduces civic republican political thought and draws out its educational importance and relevance. The educational ideas which have found expression within civic republicanism are explained and explored. In the conclusion, which also acts as a sumamary of the chapter's main themes, some further issues for the relationship between civic republican ideas and education are briefly considered.
