Abstract
Newcomers are graduating tertiary students who have yet to join any organisation for the first time. This group is known to have the highest rate of turnover within the first few years of employment, and yet the causes remain unverified. In this thesis, questions were raised as to whether or not: (a) they have pre-entry expectations that affect their intention to quit their first job; (b) their perceived turnover intentions can be predicted; and (c) they perceive they have control over their future turnover.
