Abstract

Primary producers need strategies and tools to assist in monitoring water use with a view to improving physical and financial productivity. UniSA in collaboration with award-winning agricultural sensing hardware and software manufacturer Sentek, have provided two agricultural industry-specific detailed case studies of how farmers can track and understand their water use through linking of all hidden and direct water-related costs to their production process. This project develops a farm water accounting tool that links costs to soil moisture and climate data for improved understanding of water productivity.
