Abstract
This research addresses the urgent challenge of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in acne and wound infections by developing novel topical antibacterial formulations. By repurposing polyether ionophores, narasin (NAR) and monensin (MON), this study identified their potent activity against resistant Cutibacterium acnes and optimized their topical delivery using self-nanomicellizing solid dispersion (SNMSD) and nanostructured lipid carriers (NLCs) for acne treatment. Additionally, an acid-buffered alginate gel was formulated to combat resistant wound infections. These innovative drug delivery strategies offer promising, effective, and safer alternatives for treating resistant acne and wound infections.
