Abstract

John Keeler gained his undergraduate degree from the University of Oxford before joining the Law School at the University of Adelaide in 1964. After beginning his career as a lecturer he remained at the University until formally retiring in 2002, after which he continued to serve as an adjunct Associate Professor. During his time at Adelaide Dr Keeler served on many committees both within the Law School and for the wider university community including the University Council (1980s and 1990s) and the Staff Association, and was a habituate of the University Staff Club and a founder and long serving member of the famous ‘Table Four’. In 2016 Dr Keeler was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day Awards in recognition of his significant service to tertiary legal education in South Australia as a senior academic and author, and as a mentor of law students.
