Abstract

This paper outlines the results of qualitative research examining best practices in science marketing across Australian research institutions. In-depth interviews were conducted with two major objectives in mind. Following from results of an earlier customer satisfaction survey, the study primarily aimed at identifying best practices in areas seen as highly satisfactory by research customers. In addition, the research sought to ascertain best practices in other areas of science marketing practice that might provide valuable lessons. The results outline a range of best practices and potential pitfalls, which should provide some guidance for individuals and institutions involved in technology transfer and science marketing.
