Abstract
Most institutions of higher education have policies in place regarding recruitment of international students as an integral part of internationalisation strategies.1 International students bring a myriad of financial and cultural resources and, if adequately supported, offer tremendous resources for the exchange of academic knowledge and cultural practices with local national students. Beyond a focus on the recruitment of international students, campus and local communities need to provide a welcoming environment to support student integration and a positive quality of life.
