Julie Bartholomew continues to explore our place in the world through the mimetic qualities of porcelain. Her series for the exhibition Endangered reflects on the affects that humans have on our environment and the plants and animals that are threatened in Australia. Presented in assemblages made from porcelain, some with glazes, these studies are so life-like that the viewer is transported into seeing these familiar scenes in a different way, and perhaps considers their own impact on the precarious existence of threatened species in Australia.
