Abstract
This thesis provides three essays on trading activities before and after firm-specific announcements on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). The first two essays examine individual and institutional trading activities in announcing and non-announcing competing firms before and after firm-specific announcements. The third essay investigates the impact of timing of the release of earnings and takeover announcements on motives for trade initiation.
