Abstract

This essay is inspired by the concrete silos that dominate the landscape of the far west coast of South Australia, juxtaposed against the colonised space of Western academia. It is written by an Aboriginal woman whose Country is desert region, but who has always lived and worked in a city. Knowledge of the world and the social sciences can be found in both spaces but, as this story illustrates, it is the desert landscape that inspires most. To work within the colonised halls of academia, the stories are centred within the ontological and epistemological framework of Aboriginal woman.
