Abstract
During neural development and nervous system regeneration, mature brain-derived neurotrophic factor (mBDNF) physiologically promotes the neurite outgrowth, neurogenesis, synaptic plasticity and mood-related behaviours. However, the roles of the precursor of BDNF (proBDNF) are controversial. We conducted the research focusing on the roles of proBDNF in neuronal migration, proliferation and differentiation, as well as the functions in regulation of hippocampal neurogenesis and mood-related behaviours of animals.
