Abstract
Gadolinium substituted cobalt CoGdxFe2-xO4 (x = 0.02, 0.06) ferrites by using sal gel auto-combustion route have been prepared. XRD results indicated that all the samples prepared by sot gel auto-combustion method are single phase with good crystallinity. SEM results showed that the average crystallite size of CoGd0.02Fe1.9804 ferrite tends to increase with the increasing calcining temperature. Room temperature Mossbauer spectra of CoGdxFe2-xO4 ferrites showed that the calcining temperature influence the magnetic property. This variation of magnetic order state confirmed the decrease of Fe3+-O2-Fe3+ super exchange interaction due to Gd substitutions. The variation of coercivity was attributed to magneto-crystalline anisotropy, microstrain and grain boundary.
