Abstract
Undesired microbial adhesion to surface has attracted substantial attention since it is longstanding and unresolved problem in wide range of technological applications in the medical, environmental and industrial fields. For example; indwelling biomedical devices are highly vulnerable to biological fouling, especially from potentially toxic micro-organisms, such as bacteria. Generally speaking, antimicrobial surfaces can be employed to decrease the risk of microbiological fouling surfaces. This thesis describes versatile methods of developing surface coatings directly aimed at decreasing microbiological contamination on surfaces for the use in the biomedical field.
