Abstract
The synthesis of Fc(C{triple bond, long}C)<inf>3</inf>Ru(dppe)Cp (2) from Fc(C{triple bond, long}C)<inf>3</inf>SiMe<inf>3</inf> and RuCl(dppe)Cp is described, together with its reactions with tcne to give the tetracyano-dienyl FcC{triple bond, long}CC{triple bond, long}C{C[{double bond, long}C(CN)<inf>2</inf>]}<inf>2</inf>Ru(dppe)Cp (3) and -cyclobutenyl FcC{triple bond, long}CC{triple bond, long}C{C{double bond, long}CC(CN)<inf>2</inf>C(CN)<inf>2</inf>}Ru(dppe)Cp (4), with Co<inf>2</inf>(μ-dppm)<inf>n</inf>(CO)<inf>8-2n</inf> (n = 0, 1) to give FcC<inf>2</inf>{Co<inf>2</inf>(CO)<inf>6</inf>}C<inf>2</inf>{Co<inf>2</inf>(CO)<inf>6</inf>}C{triple bond, long}CRu(dppe)Cp (5) and FcC{triple bond, long}CC{triple bond, long}CC<inf>2</inf>{Co<inf>2</inf>(μ-dppm)(CO)<inf>4</inf>}Ru(dppe)Cp (6), respectively, and with Os<inf>3</inf>(CO)<inf>10</inf>(NCMe)<inf>2</inf> to give Os<inf>3</inf>{μ<inf>3</inf>-C<inf>2</inf>C{triple bond, long}CC{triple bond, long}C[Ru(dppe)Cp]}(CO)<inf>10</inf> (7). On standing in solution, the latter isomerises to the cyclo-metallated derivative Os<inf>3</inf>(μ-H){μ<inf>3</inf>-C[Ru(dppe)Cp]CCC[(η-C<inf>5</inf>H<inf>3</inf>)FeCp]}(CO)<inf>8</inf> (8).
