Abstract
According to Tindale’s primary record in Milerum’s ‘Story of Tjelbruke’ in 1934, the name ‘Warabari’ was used for a cliff point, the ‘first’ south of Sellick’s Hill, where Tjelbruke made smoke signals. The name is probably Kaurna in origin, but there is no evidence from early settlement times that the Kaurna used it here, nor was any other name recorded then in the area between Sellick’s Beach and Myponga Beach. No meanings have been suggested for the name.
