Abstract
The aims of this project were to isolate and characterise bacteriophages that are specifically lytic for Australian ETEC strains associated with PWD in piglets. A group of phages would be selected to give a broad coverage of ETEC strains that could be administered as an oral cocktail or applied environmentally. Application of the phages in conjunction with antibiotics and other alternative strategies/treatmentssuch as diet, pre/probiotics and herd management could reduce industry reliance onantibiotics to control the incidence of PWD
