Abstract
This dissertation explored the question of whether a MedDiet pattern could be a potential therapeutic strategy towards the prevention of cognitive decline, and support optimal cognitive function among healthy older adults aged 65 years and above. Two reviews were employed to review the body of literature on the topic and gain further insight and knowledge regarding the association between the MedDiet and age-related cognitive function. This work became the foundation from which research questions, aims and hypotheses were developed, and then predominately the platform for initiating scientific research to test them.
