Abstract
Understanding team-based creativity is essential for the Information Systems (IS) community. The IS Laboratory (InSyL) at the University of South Australia has established a research project known as CreWS (Creative Work Support) to observe the needs of and subsequently provide ICT support to Creative Teams at work - e.g., strategic planners, software engineers, designers, etc. - involved in the task of solving ill-structured problems. The primary motivation for this research is that the way in which such problems are currently addressed is, to a surprising degree, poorly understood. Specifically, researchers have found there to be insufficient understanding of creative and collaborative teamwork, which contributes to a lack of diffusion into practice of research outcomes; and consequently there is little effective support available for these teams.
