Abstract
Targeted alpha therapy (TAT) is a form of radiotherapy currently being trialed and developed, with the first human clinical trial in 1997. TAT consists of delivering an a-emitting isotope directly to a tumor, sparing surrounding healthy cells. Similar to other radiotherapy treatments, Monte Carlo (MC) radiation physics simulations have been used for internal dosimetry estimates in TAT. In addition, MC simulations have been used to study more efficient methods to produce a-emitters in nuclear facilities, with the goal of improving the viability of this treatment in the clinics.
