Abstract

The link between socioeconomic disadvantage and poor health is a considerable public health challenge. In particular, children of low socioeconomic position (SEP) are an important target group for improving eating behaviours, as they are at an increased risk of consuming poor quality diets compared to children of middle and high SEP; and there is currently poor understanding about why these socioeconomic disparities in dietary intake exist. This thesis explores predictors of 9-13 year old children’s dietary intake in different socioeconomic groups.
