Abstract
Thus, an in-depth examination of the relationships among such psychological constructs as personality, affect, and satisfaction is required to better understand the joint impact of personality traits and affective responses on tourist satisfaction.By linking enduring personality traits with situational affective responses to develop a conceptual model for tourist satisfaction, this study aimed to reveal the psychological mechanism underlying the tourist satisfaction formation in the context of mainland Chinese package tourists to Australia. Employing structural equation modelling analysis, it investigated the structural relationships among tourist personality as measured by the Big Five Inventory, affective responses characterised as either positive or negative, and overall tourist satisfaction with travel experiences at a destination.
