Abstract

The study reported in this thesis is about assessment of intercultural understanding in languages education at secondary level. It is a qualitative study of the Spanish ab initio students’ written responses to an International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) assessment task. The intercultural is now widely recognised as an important part of languages education, nevertheless it poses challenges for assessment which warrants further investigation.
