Abstract

Collaborative practice is a critical component of paediatric occupational therapy, particularly when working in educational settings. In South Australia, this is becoming increasingly important as health services are integrated into educational settings. One key challenge for occupational therapists working in such settings is the collaborative nature of their work. To develop the best possible collaborative practice framework, we have reviewed the literature in the light of our clinical experience in schools and similar settings, and developed four principles to guide the practice of South Australian occupational therapists in such new collaborative roles, as well as in more established, but similar roles.
