Abstract

This review of Indian poet Debashish Lahiri's new book 'Poppies in the Post' discusses the role of myth in Lahiri's writing. Drawing on concepts from psychoanalytic literary theory, the review argues that Lahiri's writing 'can call us to question the binary boundaries between the old and the new, the East and the West, and thus to re-cognise (re-think) the complex interconnections and flowing reciprocal dynamics between all these things'.
