Abstract
This review focused on studies that included center-based preschool for healthy 4 year olds and reported on a health related outcome in the year following the intervention or beyond. This included a wide range of studies that in some cases involved more intervention components than just center-based preschool, for example parenting services, nutrition services, or home visiting services. The studies may also have targeted a wider age range than 4 years olds (from birth to 8 year old). Health was defined broadly to encompass the presence of absence of disease, disease risk factors, health behaviors, and indicators of well-being.
