Abstract

This thesis examines the regulation of these processes by the VDR by utilising three distinct mouse models where the VDR is rendered functionally inactive either in every cell of the body (Vdr-/-), specifically in mature osteoblasts and osteocytes (mObVdr-/-) or specifically in osteocytes alone (OyVdr-/-) with the chief aim to further elucidate the role of the VDR in maintenance of skeletal health.
