Abstract
Marriage Laws etc. – early MSS from various sources (Grey, Moore, Nind and others)
A summary of the contents shows that group marriages, 4 intermarrying classes, 2 principal marriage laws of the southern groups, Salvado’s family tree, various informants’ family trees, Spencer and Gillen’s work on Arunta tribes, male and female descent, comparison between northern and southern tribes’ laws, totems, infant betrothal, treatment of twins, infanticide, ‘bad women’ and notes from other sources are all discussed, with the caveat that much needs to be rewritten because it does not agree with DBs personal investigation among the old southern natives.
