Abstract

A method is presented which simplifies the formal solution of the differential equations describing heat transfer in domestic dwellings. The standard approach involves taking Laplace Transforms of a coupled set of differential equations, each of which describes the heat flow in a building section. The method described here utilises Duhamel's Theorem to decouple these differential equations, greatly simplifying the formal solution. © 1997 Elsevier Science Ltd.
