This chapter describes the evolution of an evidence production and implementation research centre, the International Centre for Allied Health Evidence, University of South Australia. The centre was initially formed from research interests within the School of Physiotherapy, however the school’s merger with others to form the School of Health Sciences led to a broadening of research focus encompassing a number of allied health disciplines. Researchers in the new centre embraced the evidence-based practice movement and adopted a new mission and direction: producing and disseminating allied health evidence, with the key aim of influencing practice. The centre has now forged international links by collaborating with research centres in Africa and the Asia-Pacific region. The chapter records the key events and activities which influenced the growth and development of the centre, the collaborations which were instrumental in shaping its direction and the research skills and products in which it has developed expertise. We conclude by summarising the centre’s growth from winning an award for a single successful research project to its current influential position of putting evidence into policy and practice in the Australian healthcare system.
