Abstract

Current tissue processing methods are quite invasive; involving cutting, mincing, and enzymatic dissociation. This is further followed by several independent and manual steps including cell sieving, washing, pipetting and centrifugation, resulting in significant loss of cells, which is not appropriate for rare cells such as cancer stem cells, and adult stem cells. Here, we present a microfluidics tissue processing platform that encompasses successive steps of tissue dissociation, debris filtration, cell sieving and washing, cell trapping, staining, and counting; all on one integrated device.
