Abstract
The term "the news media" has in recent decades been widely understood to refer to print, radio, and television. However, this definition is now expanding to incorporate another player on the media stage - the Internet. The Internet's growing role has added an extra dimension to the consideration of news-related matters that could be considered ethical in nature, with additional technological capabilitie.s further complicating an already complex area of ethical decision-making. One established means of formalising ethical guidance based on widely accepted values and nonns is a code of ethics, and this paper will discuss the relevance of codes of ethics to Internet journalism, with specific reference to the code with the widest application to Australian journalists - the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance Journalists' Code of Ethics.
