Abstract

a series of geotrail brochures These research outputs comprise a suite of four approximately 40-50 page softbound volumes describing the logistical, geographic and geologic details of four Nature Drives (North Wall, Mt St Mungo, Pine Well-Narlaby, Peeweena) on the Hiltaba Nature Reserve in the Gawler Ranges of NW SA. They were jointly produced by local rotational Manager Mr. Lange Powell and myself following 2-3 years (2017-2020) and 6-8 field visits to the Reserve. These geotrail guides include maps, annotated illustrations, text and photo images of the landscape and about 8-10 geosites along each route. I contributed between 30-50% of the geological content and a 4 page geological introduction to the area. Draft volumes were produced in 2019, with complete issues in 2020 which were updated in 2021. They were produced/printed/bound (published) by Nature Foundation and are available from NF headquarters or onsite, where they are loaned to visitors/tourists or sold for $12 per copy. The volumes were read and reviewed by colleagues from Nature Foundation staff, UniSA, and Geological Society of Australia members. Potential visitors are reminded that the trails all occur on lands where traditional owners have rights and interests to land and waters according to their traditional law and customs.
