Abstract

Conventional knowledges on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) emerging from medical discourse impact how students with ASD are known and thought about in school. The concern when focusing on the lives of students with ASD through medical paradigms is it only offers partial understandings with limited attendance to the actualities of their everyday schooling experiences. This dissertation responded to contemporary theorizations on ASD and explored the schooling experiences of twelve young men with ASD aged 18 to 34 having attended public school in Nova Scotia, Canada.
