Abstract

Although reverse logistics outsourcing (RLO) is suggested as an effective solution for construction firms to adhere to environmental regulations and improve their competitiveness, some studies have shown problems about RLO outcomes. To help firms to obtain RLO goals, this study aims to investigate the effect of RLO relationships on reverse logistics outsourcing performance (RLOP). The aim was achieved by using a sequential mixed-methods design. In the first phase, content analysis method was applied to examine the data of 10 interviews. Findings indicated six factors of RLO relationships and 10 dimensions of RLOP. In the second phase, partial least squares structural equation modelling method was used to analyse 170 responses collected from a questionnaire survey. Findings showed the positive effect of trust, cooperative behaviour, shared values, communication and flexibility on RLOP.
