| dc.description.abstract | This paper is a discussion of Australian race-relations politics and its impact on the author who is a Bangladeshi-born Australian Muslim woman. The author considers her right as a citizen to vote as "sacred" because it empowers her to critically evaluate the standing of the two major parties and thereby decide who deserves her vote. The author's "voting" journey began in 1996 and continued into the 21st century. But she focuses her discussion on the 2007 federal election. This paper is a personal narrative (or a polemic piece), which touches on her doctoral and post-doctoral research. It is based on both primary and secondary sources, including newspaper research. | |
