Abstract

This thesis describes the synthesis and complexation characteristics of a series of pendant arm polyaza macrocycles designed to test the practicality of attaching amino acids to tri and tetra amino cyclic aliphatic amines and their adaptation as fluorescent sensors for metal ions.
