Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine how institutional investors in Hong Kong view dividends. Specifically, it seeks to determine the level of importance that institutional investors attach to dividends when making share selection decisions, and to determine the views of those investors on dividend theories and related concepts that have been developed to explain why dividends may be important to them. To achieve this, a survey and series of interviews were used as research methods.
