Abstract
Escaping to the object: LESA FARRANT's ceramics and domestic other-ness.Lesa Farrant's new body of work entitled Objectscapes situates itself decidedly within the domestic domain. As is the case with many ceramic artists, this familiar/familial environment literally goes with the territory; here objects are consumed, used and abused as functional and/or decorative home wares. Metaphorically, as well, the intensive labour involved in making pots wedging, coiling, glazing, decorating, assembling, finishing and firing not to mention slippage, spillage and breakage finds its parallel in the unremitting toil of housework.
