dc.description.abstract'Feeling Human' was an interactive exhibit, staged in the Arcade Gallery for the MOD.IFY exhibition in 2018. It showcased videos on pain research by UniSA academics Assoc Prof Tasha Stanton and Professor Lorimer Moseley, alongside interactive creative elements. These included an interactive hologram illustrating the neuroscience of pain, two ‘pain chairs’, and the Draw Your Pain station. The ‘pain chairs’, positioned in the centre of the gallery, led visitors through a guided series of ‘painful’ sensations demonstrating the impact of different stimuli on pain response. These included sensations of heat and a mild electric shock delivered to the participant’s hand through the chair’s armrest. Above the chairs were columns red and blue light. The Draw Your Pain station was an iPad touch screen inviting participants to draw a personal representation of ‘pain’, with selected images projected onto the gallery wall in a slideshow of other visitors’ responses.
