dc.description.abstractA suite of wooden furniture related objects responding to the core definition of Biophilia -an innate and genetically determined affinity of human beings with the natural world.The three objects, titled Perch, are designed using wood in its natural form to explore this connection through a variety of seated, standing and lying positions. Perch is a collection of three furniture objects designed to connect humans with the natural world utilizing visual and tactile senses. In the bush, a branch, a rock, a log, can spontaneously become a place to rest and impromptu furniture. Perch combines naturally formed branches with dressed timber providing support to lean on or rest, while standing, sitting, or lying down.
