The embryonic and larval development of the Javelin Frog, Litoria microbelos, breeding sites and form of the egg mass are described. At 0.78 mm diameter, the ovum is the smallest of all currently known Australian frog species. Two clutches included 259 and 277 eggs respectively. The tadpole can be distinguished by its very small size, body shape and features of the oral disc.
