Abstract

In this paper, we propose a porous core octagonal microstructure fiber for efficient transmission of terahertz wave. To investigate the guiding properties, finite element method (FEM) based Comsol V4.2 software is used. Numerical results confirms that, at 1 THz the proposed porous core photonic crystal fiber exhibits low effective material loss of 0.055 cm-1, low confinement loss of 3.01×10-3 cm-1 at optimum condition. Moreover, almost 54% power propagates through the core for optimum designing parameter at f = 1 THz. This proposed fiber can be easily fabricated by using the combination of drilling and stacking methods. We hope this proposed fiber may be a good candidate in low loss terahertz wave transmission.
