Abstract
The 14 schools included in the 2008 science innovation project provided a diverse range of teaching expertise, student cohorts and contexts in which to look at the impact of this project. The diversity was expressed in characteristics such as teaching expertise and experience, availability of resources (in particular technology resources), social context, expectations and aspirations of students, level of parental engagement, etc.In the most part, the teachers involved adapted and modified their projects to suit the particular context in which they were working, including the characteristics of the students, to best meet the educational needs of their students.
