Abstract
This report presents the key findings from a project aimed at better understanding the diversity of the profession teaching middle school mathematics (Years 7-10) in SA. There has been a lot of media attention about ‘out-of-field’ teaching, much of which does not capture the complexities of the term or account for the range of experience and qualifications relevant for teaching middle school mathematics.
