Abstract

Kauwe-marnilla is a Kaurna descriptive phrase, perhaps also a place-name, for waterholes on the tributaries of Field River in the vicinity of Old Reynella or Happy Valley. By 1840 it had been recorded as ‘Cowie Manilla’. It means ‘two good waters’.
