Abstract: | Colorado experienced the worst drought in the state's history in 2002. The effects of this drought fell particularly heavily on livestock producers. This research examines the decision to cull herds in response to drought. Econometric results indicate that while the drought increased culling rates among producers, federal assistance programs generally reduced the effects of drought significantly. |
