The lack of a visible urban infrastructure for Roman Pella has long frustrated its excavators. Pella has no identifiable agora or macellum, no gymnasion, theatre - although it does have an odeon - no nymphaeum, no cardo or decumani. Using evidence gleaned from the Pella Hinterland Survey, DAJ excavations in Area IX and aerial photographs courtesy of David Kennedy’s curated APAAME project, this paper challenges Smith’s published suggestion from the ‘80s and early ‘90s that some if not most of these missing buildings might have been located in that part of the Wadi Jirm el-Moz between the tell to the north and Husn to the south. Finally, I want to add a new architectural feature to the urban landscape of Pella.
