Abstract
To date, studies that focus on the concept of 'fit' in strategic human resource management (SHRM) fail to show consistent evidence. A variety of fit approaches are available, but there is no general consensus about what constitutes fit. This chapter aims to reconceptualize fit through a literature review and a critical reflection on the general findings to date. We reflect on what has been achieved up until now, identify what is still missing and present an alternative framework for conceptualizing fit, resulting in a set of propositions on SHRM and fit that can be tested in future research.
