At that time, the Europeans had been several years in contact with Natives speaking four dialects, and Vocabularies of three dialects had been prepared and published by the Missionaries of the Dresden Lutheran Missionary Society; and it was thought desirable, by His Excellency, to have the fourth placed on record -- Prefaceen
