dc.description.abstractThe Fish River Aboriginal Ranger Accommodation project presents a case study of an experiential learning approach where design and construction are undertaken in unfamiliar environmental and cultural conditions to expand the learning experience beyond the traditional boundaries of architectural education. The project offers an example of an integrated pedagogy, entwining traditional design studio with technical, social and cultural experiences. The teaching and learning journey of this project required students and staff to expand their professional and personal skills beyond the drawings of the design studios and into the cultural and climatic context of a remote area of northern Australia.
